I left my babies again this past Thursday to go to my firm's women lawyers retreat. It was a great trip. The location was gorgeous, I ate great food, I talked to some great people, and I slept in a very comfortable bed. But I missed the girls. And Jim. But mostly Emma. It's difficult to be away from my baby! I'm glad I don't have any more work trips planned.
Another difficulty of the trip was pumping. Having an affair with my pump is never fun. It's even less fun when it involves airplane bathrooms. Ah, the things we do for our children. At least in my hotel room I had HGTV to keep me occupied. The least fun might have been the humiliation of coming home with a bag full of breast milk. I had to tell not one, not two, but THREE different people why I was bringing an extra bag on the plane. I swear, the Frontier people were so obnoxious about bags for my return flight. All of them had their eyes on the lookout for people bringing too many bags onto the plane, and all of them spotted me with my cooler bag. I was annoyed, to say the least, and embarrassed by having to keep telling them what was in the bag.
Getting home was such a joy. I had purchased a little toy airplane for Hannah at the Orange County airport, and I gave it to her after she gave me big smiles and big hugs. She was so excited. I didn't see Emma until the next morning, but she, too, was very happy to see me. We had a yummy pancake breakfast and then went to a family concert at temple. Hannah had so much fun watching the concert on Daddy's lap, and then on Mommy's lap, and then dancing. Emma slept most of the time, but that's par for the course.
