Tonight we watched part three of our three-night, first-time family-viewing of Annie (without Emma - sorry, sweetie, you were in bed!). We had to watch it in parts because of bedtime, but Hannah may have watched the entire movie in one siting if we had let her! This was Hannah's first time watching a movie, and really her first time watching anything, other than Sesame Street, for more than a few minutes (the clips of other shows she has seen don't really count). Hannah loved the movie. She watched so intently. She really seemed to follow the plot, saying "she's not nice" about Miss Hannigan and saying "there's Sandy" whenever Sandy came on the screen. During "I think I'm gonna like it here," Hannah said, "I want them to do that to me!". She wanted to be treated like the princess-child of a big mansion. Don't we all. Luckily, she didn't seem to get scared at the chase scene, instead just saying "she doesn't like that, she's crying" when Annie was scared on the suspended train track.
This was so special for me, as Annie is my favorite childhood movie (and perhaps my favorite movie of all-time). For much of the movie each night, Hannah sat with me and we watched together, which was so sweet. It was truly enjoyable for all of us. We now need to find more movies we all can enjoy!
The only bad part was Hannah telling me not to sing and instead to listen to the singing in the movie - just like Aunt Sammy would have!
LOVE it. Annie is such a big hit in our house. That was the first movie Annabelle loved too. It's magic. xo
