The Monks Visit Denver

This past weekend was a Monk-fest at the Thies house.  Ellie Mae, Aunt Sammy and Uncle Jonny descended upon Denver for a very quick but very fun visit to celebrate Emma's baby naming at Temple Emanuel.  Friday afternoon was a fun gathering at the house.  Aunt Sammy and Uncle Jonny went to pick the girls up from school.  From what I heard, Hannah was a little confused when Aunt Sammy first walked into her classroom, but then ran to her and was very excited.  Then she immediately asked for Ellie Mae (she knew she was coming, too - we had been doing a daily countdown since Monday).  At home, Hannah was so excited to play with everyone!

Emma?  Not as sure.  Her frown in this shot is so sad but so cute!

If you didn't know any better, you'd think this was a very cute little family:

The naming was Friday evening during shabbat service, and it was absolutely lovely.  We all went up on the bima (Hannah came, too) and Hannah received blessings from the rabbis and cantor.  Bad Uncle Jonny took a picture (I'm not-so-secretly happy that he did!); I'll update when I get it.

Saturday was a fun day of playing with Ellie Mae's iPad in bed, pancakes (care of Chef Ellie Mae), music class, and playing at home, followed by a yummy dinner at Little H Burger.  Uncle Jonny having a blast at music (Uncle Jonny even said on the way to music class that this was his opportunity to act silly and for it to be totally acceptable).

Aunt Sammy and Uncle Jonny left early Sunday morning, but the rest of us continued to have lots of fun playing and eating pancakes (or, in Emma's case, eating Mommy's cheeks).

We'll miss you, Monks!
