The Beaux Arts Ball

Two weekends past, Jim and I went to the Beaux Arts Ball, a big event to benefit National Jewish Hospital. This year was to benefit research on children's food allergies. At $500 a head (no, we don't make that much; my firm bought a table), there is quite a crowd. Jim liked to call them "muckety-mucks." I think Jim was counting how many times he could fit "muckety-muck" into conversation.

We had a really nice time. I enjoyed a well-deserved martini and got some body art (temporary), as seen below:

There were a bunch of "entertainers" (dancers, people standing around in costumes, etc.), some of which were encased in big plastic balls:

The band finally came out at 10:10 (we had been waiting very patiently to get on the dance floor). They were awesome. I think it was at least a 10-piece band - typical band components plus a horns section and at least 4 singers that alernated betwen lead and back-up. They played funk/disco/R&B classics and put on a great show. All the singers danced in unison, which was awesome.
